The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its travel advice for Indonesia.

There is one change to our travel advisory advice levels, where we have lowered the advice level for Sulawesi.

We continue to advise that New Zealanders avoid non-essential travel to Papua and West Papua provinces due to civil unrest and the risk of kidnapping.

Elsewhere in Indonesia, we continue to advise exercising increased caution including in Jakarta, Surabaya, Sulawesi and on Bali, due to the ongoing threat of terrorism.

Travel Advice: Venezuela

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its travel advice for Venezuela.

There is no change to our travel advisory advice level.

We continue to advise that New Zealanders do not travel to Venezuela due to ongoing high levels of violent crime, the potential for violent civil unrest, political uncertainty and shortages of food, medicine and other basic supplies.

There is a risk of kidnapping due to drug traffickers and illegal armed groups operating within 80 kilometres of the border with Colombia, particularly in the States of Zulia, Tachira and Apure.

Travel Advice: Saudi Arabia

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its travel advice for Saudi Arabia.

We now advise that New Zealanders avoid non-essential travel within 100 kilometres of the border with Yemen, including central Jizan and Abha International Airport, due to the potential for cross-border missile and drone attacks.

We continue to advise that New Zealanders: do not travel within 30 kilometres of the border with Yemen, including Najran and the southern and eastern areas of Jizan, due to the ongoing conflict in Yemen and the potential for cross-border missile attacks; avoid non-essential travel to Al Qatif governorate due to violent clashes between government forces and armed groups; and exercise increased caution elsewhere in Saudi Arabia due to the threat of terrorism.

Travel Advice: Japan

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its travel advice for Japan.

There is some change to our advice levels. We continue to advise that New Zealanders do not travel to the areas near the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant designated by the Japanese Government as Areas under Evacuation Orders (as identified on the Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry website) due to the risk of radiation. We now advise that New Zealanders exercise normal safety and security precautions elsewhere in Japan.

Travel Advice: Russian Federation

The New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reviewed its travel advice for Russian Federation.

There are no changes to our travel advisory advice levels.

We continue to advise:

Do not travel to Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachai-Cherkessia, Republic of North Ossetia and the south-east parts of Stavropol Krai in the North Caucasian Federal District. Terrorism, kidnapping and military activity in these areas presents a significant risk to security.

Do not travel within 10 kilometres of the border with the Ukrainian Donetsk and Lugansk Oblasts due to ongoing violent conflict and the volatile security situation.

Exercise increased caution elsewhere in Russia due to the threat of terrorism and crime.

- Exercise increased caution elsewhere in Uzbekistan due to the threat from terrorism and violent crime.
